This has been an interesting week in Court. I enjoy the diversity and interacting with the various courts and it all boils down to being familiar with the law and issues on a given day. I appeared on a nondisclosure in Harris County District Court in the criminal courthouse for a client who made a youthful teenage mistake and after 15 years of being a good citizen wanted to get his record cleared. Surprisingly the District Attorney objected to the motion, but the court granted the nondisclosure which will be very significant for the client going forward.

An appearance in the Harris County Probate Court secured a guardianship for an extremely good mom who has a daughter with a disability. The judge and ad litem attorney both recognized she was a really good mom. This case allowed me to become certified in the Probate Courts as a guardianship attorney,

An appearance in Galveston County Court was regarding an Order for mediation that became necessary in a family law case. An appearance in Galveston County Justice Court was required on a breach of contract case and an appearance in Harris County Justice Court was necessary for a breach of a promissory note case.

While in the office, a personal injury motor vehicle accident case prior to litigation settled and another motor vehicle accident case that is in litigation appears to be on the cusp of resolution. Multiple medical accounts on a personal injury case were negotiated with the medical providers.

A QDRO order in a divorce case was prepared and sent to the QDRO pre-approval unit for review. And, I walked the dogs every day!!! Keeps things interesting and keeps my courthouse skills fresh.
